Poems about fish....

i am practicing what i "teach"... tonight my students need to write five poems. i told them i would write some too, perhaps about my new fishtank.

here they are:


the lanturne:

watch!
constant
spectacle
calming motion
search

the essence:

platies dive, endlessly
they do thrive, thankfullly

the tanka:

clear waters of april
constantly being filtered
rising and falling
searching for food, interested
in every square inch of rock

the plaeides:

Fishtank

Frantically peaceful fish
falling towards the rocks
fake plastic trees conceal
forlorn golden tetra's
frantic search for food
frenzy at feeding time
fellow neons eat not

and finally the etheree:

there
are two
neons that
remind me of
my childhood when i
would sit and stare for hours
at nothing but the constant
motion of the fake trees swaying
to the pull of the silent filter
now, i sit and watch the same fake plastic trees
